Sycuan to host San Diego Junior Masters

March 2013 – 2013 San Diego Junior Masters Announcement

Future Champions Golf to host the 6th Annual San Diego Junior Masters on July 8-12, 2013 at select San Diego courses.  The event, sponsored by Callaway Golf and supported by the San Diego Sports Commission, features junior golfers from around the world.  A new record was set in 2012 with over 470 competitors ages 5-18 from over 25 different countries competed in the event.  The event has quickly become a sought after event for competitive junior golfers and has proven to be a great warm-up for the Callaway Junior World.  Already 14 players who have competed in the Junior Masters have then won the next week’s Callaway Junior World Championships.  “I wanted to create an event where any competitive junior golfer could compete with players from around the world.  I wanted to give the international players a chance to get acclimated to US conditions as well as help all the local players get the feel for Junior World before competing in the event.  We selected a course venue that really exposes your weaknesses and allows players a chance to figure out what they need to improve on and will have a few days to get the kinks out before the main event” – Chris Smeal, PGA and Founder of Future Champions Golf.  “We are very excited to host this year’s event and look forward to some great competition!” The winner of each age division will earn an exemption to the following week’s Callaway Junior World Golf Championships.  Top finishers in the 13-14 and 15-18 will have AJGA PBE.  The event is ranked by the Royal & Ancient World Amateur Ranking, Scratch Players World Amateur Ranking, National Junior Golf Scoreboard and Golfweek. Graphite Design sponsors the “FCG Shafts for Champions Program” where all division winners will receive a certificate for a complementary $135 Graphite Design Shaft.

***New to 2013 Boys and Girls 15-18 play 54 holes with a cut after 36 holes. Top 25% will go on to play final 18.

Example with full field 120 players we will cut to top 30 and ties.

July 7 – Optional Practice Rounds at Tournament Sites for 13-14 & 15-18 divisions

July 8 – First Round for 13-14 and 15-18 Divisions

July 9 – Second Round for 15-18 Divisions, Final Round for 13-14 Divisions (awards to follow after play)

July 10 – Final Round for Boys 15-18 and Girls 15-18 Division (awards to follow after play)

               – Optional Practice Rounds at Tournament Sites for 12 and Under divisions

July 11 – First Round for 11-12, 9-10, 7-8 Divisions at Woods Valley Golf Club

                  First Round for 6 and Under Division at Colina Park
