Future Champions Golf to host the 6th Annual San Diego Junior Masters on July 8-12, 2013 at select San Diego courses.  The event, sponsored by Callaway Golf and supported by the San Diego Sports Commission, features junior golfers from around the world.  A new record was set in 2012 with over 470 competitors ages 5-18 from over 25 different countries competed in the event.  The event has quickly become a sought after event for competitive junior golfers and has proven to be a great warm-up for the Callaway Junior World.  Already 14 players who have competed in the Junior Masters have then won the next week’s Callaway Junior World Championships.  “I wanted to create an event where any competitive junior golfer could compete with players from around the world.  I wanted to give the international players a chance to get acclimated to US conditions as well as help all the local players get the feel for Junior World before competing in the event.  We selected a course venue that really exposes your weaknesses and allows players a chance to figure out what they need to improve on and will have a few days to get the kinks out before the main event” – Chris Smeal, PGA and Founder of Future Champions Golf.  “We are very excited to host this year’s event and look forward to some great competition!” The winner of each age division will earn an exemption to the following week’s Callaway Junior World Golf Championships.  Top finishers in the 13-14 and 15-18 will have AJGA PBE.  The event is ranked by the Royal & Ancient World Amateur Ranking, Scratch Players World Amateur Ranking, National Junior Golf Scoreboard and Golfweek. In 2013, the stakes will be just as high. Not only is the tournament ranked by Golfweek, NJGS, R&A World Amateur Rankings, and Scratch Players World Amateur Rankings but it is also a Junior World Qualifier. The winner of each age division will receive an exemption to play in the Callaway Junior World Golf Championships along with multiple other exemptions to AJGA events. Given what is on the line for participants, the FCG San Diego Junior Amateur has already amassed a highly competitive field of over 300 junior golfers, representing 14 countries and 11 states.

This year, the FCG San Diego Junior Amateur will put the spotlight on the Willow, Oak and Pine Glen golf courses located at Sycuan Golf Resort. Each golf course offers up a unique set of challenges and all tournament participants are going to have to be at the top of their game in order to come out on top at their respective courses.

Most importantly, Future Champions Golf strives to uphold both a competitive and family-friendly environment.  Sycuan Golf & Tennis Resort is hosting the world’s top youth golfers for the Callaway Junior World Golf Tournament and the AJGA Genesis Junior Golf Championships on Sycuan’s Oak Glen and Pine Glen courses. Sycuan Resort is sponsoring the green fees for both youth golf tournaments and providing boys and girls golfers from all over the world the opportunity to compete on an international level.

For the 5^th consecutive year, the Callaway Junior World Golf Tournament (July 7 – 13) will play Sycuan’s Pine Glen course for the 7-8 year old girls division while the 11-12 year old boys division will play Oak Glen. 54 countries and 42 US states will be represented during the week-long Callaway Junior World Golf Tournament, making it the largest international junior golf event and shining the international spotlight on Sycuan Resort.

Sycuan’s three courses, Willow Glen, Oak Glen and Pine Glen have been recognized for the past seven years as San Diego’s Favorite Golf Resort by the San Diego Union Tribune web site, SignOnSanDiego.com (now UTSanDiego.com).
